Director, Business Development

Role description

GeneMatters is seeking a dynamic and team-oriented business development representative. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for the implementation of sales and service activities for GeneMatters. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 – 7 years of genetics, hospital administration and/or laboratory test sales and/or BD experience, a demonstrated track record of above-plan sales performance and experience introducing new products and concepts to a market. You will use your existing networks to introduce our service offering and bridge the gap to hospitals, clinics, genetic testing labs and biopharmaceutical companies in need of genetic counseling. You must be able to influence and shape opinions by working with multiple stakeholders throughout the business development cycle and deliver on customer needs, all while working remotely from your home office. Additionally, this individual will develop and execute a sales plan, provide accurate forecasts, and identify KOL’s. A Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or equivalent is required. An advanced degree(s) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a territory business development plan with hospitals, clinics, labs and biopharmaceutical organizations consistent with corporate goals.
  • Proactively identify potential target audiences, generate leads, conduct business research and meaningfully engage key leadership contacts in the sales process.
  • Develop and maintain a robust and accurate sales pipeline and forecast.
  • Work with the GeneMatters clinical, product/engineering, marketing, and customer service teams to ensure successful service introduction and an outstanding provider and patient experience.
  • Attend relevant conferences as needed.
  • Develop sales strategies and tactics, implement sales strategies and collaborate on marketing plans.
  • Manage individual territory sales budget.
  • Maintain a high level of product and market knowledge.
  • Self-starter that is passionate about patient-care and delivering the optimal experience.

Core requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, life science specialization and/or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 – 7 years of experience in sales and/or business development in genetics, molecular diagnostics, or healthcare SaaS.
  • Experience in genetics/genomics and/or healthcare services required.
  • Experience calling on senior-level and/or C-suite individuals.
  • Experience initiating, managing and closing complex partnerships.
  • High attention to detail in documenting and tracking efforts.
  • Track record of above-plan performance.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated & proactive.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
